Address changes are usually simplest when the existing licence record is already correct and the new address proof is clear. Older licences or interstate records can require additional checking.
When an Address Update May Be Needed
You have permanently changed residence, the licence displays an old address, the existing address is incorrect, or another DL service requires the record to be brought up to date.
Documents and Record Matching
The supporting evidence depends on the address being requested and the current licence record. If the licence holder has also changed name or other identity details, those discrepancies should be identified before the application is filed.
Address Change Assistance
GurugramHelp can help review the current DL information, supporting address documents and the appropriate online service before submission.
Common questions
Can I update the address on an old DL?
Yes in many cases, but an older or non-digitised record may require additional steps before the address service works correctly.
Can I use any address proof?
Only documents accepted under the current government requirements should be relied upon. Check the official portal for the current list.
What if I moved from another state to Gurugram?
Interstate licence records can involve additional record/jurisdiction considerations compared with a simple local address change.
Should I correct my name and address together?
Where both fields are wrong, it is useful to review the entire record first so that one correction does not leave another inconsistency behind.
